Hi SRCS runners and parents,

Our Region Meet will be held this Thursday at Our Lady of Mercy.  The varsity girls’ race will begin at 4:00 PM and the varsity boys’ race will begin at 4:45 PM.  There will be a JV race that begins at 5:30 which will be combined girls and boys.  We will be checking out of school at 1:45 on Thursday in order to get to the meet on time. Please make sure your student gets anything he or she will miss in class that day.

Transportation to the meet is being finalized.  We should have a bus to get all of the athletes to the meet. I will have final word on that by tomorrow. Everyone has worked very hard up to this point in the season.  Thank you for all of your continued support.  I look forward to a very successful day on Thursday!

Blessings,

Preparing for the Championship

October 11. 2011

Hi SRXC Runners & Parents,
It was great seeing everyone again since our Fall Break.  Runners you came back to school this past week to a tough running schedule as well as a hard week of classes.  Know that the work you accomplish each week on the trail, and on the track takes 10-14 days to show itself.  Remember that from a physiological stand point your body make gains in fitness during your recovery , and not during the workout itself.  That’s when in figures it all out.  While not everyone set a personal record on Saturday think about what you accomplished!  God continues to answer the prayer that we ask enough of ourselves.
Meet Results from Saturday, October 8th:
20 runners.  11 personal records.  Two new varsity boys & girls school records.  Two new middle school boys & girls 2 mile records. We had 6 runners to win medals, and for the first time in over 2 years our middle school boys competed as a team with 5 runners.  These guys did an awesome job, and placed 4th this weekend.

Team we are 2 1/2 weeks away from the Region Championship.  Our varsity boys our 16th in the state, and 5th in the region with an excellent shot at going to the State Championship for the first time in our cross country program – stay focused!  Varsity girls encourage, and commit to each other to compete as a team – 5 girls – for the first time at our Region Championship!  Middle school runners you have done a great job this year!  Your season ends at home on October 22nd with the Strong Rock n Run 5K.  Encourage your friends to join you next year so both boys & girls compete at the team level.  Next year your season will end with your own Atlanta Metro State Championship.

Team, we are now in preparation for your Championship.  Stay focused, commit yourself, work hard, and recover well so that at the end of your race, at the end of your season – you can say that you required enough of yourself.

God blesses me with the pleasure of working, and coaching each one of you.  I look forward to the next 2 weeks.

Coach Dent
