The following are the results from Thursday’s Region Meet in Fairburn, Georgia.
Hello SRXC Runners and Families!
Wow! What a day in Locust Grove at the Henry County XC Championships! We had excellent weather, and just enough day light to finish the Championships, and boy what races they were!
The County Championships started with the junior varsity races. Sophomore Jake Sorrow led the JV Boys by placing 29th overall in a personal best time of 21:17. Next was Josh Gaynier in 22:45, Carter Holmes 23:47, Patrick Bischoff 26:31, and Hunter Greer recording a personal best in 35:21. Cayla Doolittle ran the JV Girls race in a time of 44:43.
In the Varsity Girls race – Strong Rock ran to a 1-5 meet record with a win over ELCA. Three of our five varsity girls ran personal records led by senior Kat Milby who ran her way to All County 2nd Team honors placing 11th overall in a personal record time of 22:56. Kat also medaled in the race. Next was Nealey Halter in 25:54, Taylor Steele in a personal record of 26:23, Molly Gaynier 27:03, and Josie Deason running another personal best for the 2nd straight week in 30:17.
The afternoon ended with the Varsity Boys race. Our Varsity Boys ran their best race of the year posting the best 1-5 split time out of all 10 teams in the county with a 1:12 split. Strong Rock ran a season best 5-4 meet record with wins over ELCA, Locust Grove, Luella, Stockbridge, and Henry County High School. Out of our top 7 boys there were 3 season best times and 1 personal record.
Our boys were led by senior Jesse Welch who ran a season best time of 18:47 for 24th place overall. Jesse was 1 second off his personal record! Next was junior Skyler Johnson in a personal record 19:27, Joel Holland and Tyler Mangrum in season best times of 19:33 and 19:34 respectively. Next was Robert Maddox 19:58, Stephen Stuart 20:15, and Daley Halter 21:10.
Great job Strong Rock Cross Country and Congratulations on your outstanding efforts! See you next week as we prepare for our Region Meet!

This year’s cross country banquet will be held Thursday, November 1st at 7:00 PM at Padres Mexican Cantina & Grill in Locust Grove. This event is for all cross country runners and families with year-end awards, as well as a lot of fun! Each family is responsible for paying for their family members. Thank you Rosemarie Milby in your outstanding efforts to plan and put together our banquet this year!

Medals will be given to the top 14 of each Varsity Race (1-7 – All County 1st team, 8-14 – All County 2nd Team) and the top 7 JV (boys and girls) runners will receive medals in each race.
Trophies will be awarded to the top 2 Varsity teams from each gender.
We will be selling light concessions (snack food and drinks) and Eaglesportz will be there selling custom t-shirts.

This past weekend we raced at Nash Farm with perfect weather conditions. Thanks to all the families for your support this past weekend at the meet. The following are the results from the meet:
Varsity Girls 5,000 Meter Run
The girls went 1-12 for 13th Place with a win over ELCA. Our Varsity Girls were led by senior Kat Milby 25:27.73, Nealey Halter 25:35.20 , Sarah Tucker 26:39.75, Taylor Steele 27:06.71, Molly Gaynier 27:51.97, Josie Deason 31:27.48.
Congratulations to Josie Deason in setting a personal record (PR) in the race. Josie also earned a spot in the SRXC Mile Club with over 100 miles run and logged. Way to go Josie! Congratulations also to Emma Welch who although did not race this past weekend earned her 500 Mile shirt this past week. Congratulations Emma!
Varsity Boys 5,000 Meter Run
The boys went 1-16 for 17th Place with a win over Alcovy. ELCA just edged out our boys team by 7 seconds! Our Varsity Boys were led by senior Jesse Welch 19:14.29, Tyler Mangrum 21:04.48, Stephen Stuart 21:09.06, Joel Holland 21:18.31, Daley Halter 21:34.52, Skyler Johnson 21:35.46, Josh Gaynier 22:37.58, Jake Sorrow 27:03.20, Carter Holmes 23:56.57, Patrick Bischoff 24:56.65, and Justin Hastings 32:04.28.
Academy Cross Country
In their last meet our Academy Girls went 1-1 won 2nd Place Overall, and won a trophy with a win over ELCA. Congratulations girls! Our girls were led by Hayleigh Steadham 14:13 PR, Karisa Morris 15:49 PR, Olivia Sorrow 16:01 PR, Bethany Johnson 18:05 , Tanna Irvin 18:08, Ally Dudley 19:03 PR. Many of our girls won individual medals for their performance as well as running personal records (PR’s)! Way to go girls!
Many of our middle school boys also medaled for their individual efforts although going 0-3 in the meet. Our score was even with ELCA at 61 points at the end but ELCA’s 6th Boy – the pusher – came ahead of us to win 2nd Place. Our boys placed 3rd Overall, won many individual medals, and were led by Graham Lewis 12:54, Donnie Lee 14:09, Hayden Barrow 14:16, Harry Dodd 14:39, Lee Magee 15:58.

9:50 am: JV Girls 5K (unlimited entries)
10:30 The Dash @ Nash 5k/Varsity Awards

11:45 am: Middle school/youth boys and girls 3K (2 miles, unlimited entries)
The Dash @ Nash is a road race” type of event, run on the xc course, for the public (not high school team members.) All proceeds go to benefit Relay for Life. Entry information for The Dash @ Nash will be added to the meet website. Parents AND coaches are encouraged to run in this event.
Medals to the top 20 in each race and team trophies to the top 3 in the varsity races and top 2 teams in the jv races and middle school races.

What a great job our Academy team did this past Saturday in Griffin! Although the overall times were a little slow due to the difficulty of the course our middle school represented themselves and our school well by winning both the Boys and Girls race this past weekend! We also many runners who competed well and won a medal. Way to go Academy Cross Country! The following are the results from the middle school races:
Graham Lewis and Hayleigh Steadham each won their respective 2 mile races this past weekend. Graham took 1st place in a time of 14:55, and Hayleigh ran 1st overall in the girls race in a time of 16:58. Way to go Graham and Hayleigh!
Donnie Lee came in next for the boys in a time of 16:58 for 4th place, followed by Hayden Barrow18:06 7th place, Harry Dodd 18:14 8th place, and Lee Magee 19:16 10th place. Olivia Sorrow came in 3rd overall for the girls in a time of 20:03. Karisa Morris ran a great race for 4th overall in a time of 20:15. Next was Bethany Johnson 22:22 6th, Ally Dudley 24:01 8th place, and Lydia Goffi 26:45.
This past weekend was a challenge for our varsity teams as they dealt with absences due to the SAT test on Saturday as well as numerous runners who were sick and did not compete. One runner ran an exceptional race Saturday – Jake Sorrow. Jake not only ran a season best time but a personal record at 5000 meters in 22:53! Great effort – way to go Jake! The following are the results from the varsity races:
Our Varsity Boys were led by Daley Halter in a time of 22:19. Daley was followed by Jake Sorrow 22:53, Carter Holmes 24:22, Josh Gaynier 24:22, and Patrick Bischoff 25:56.
Our Varsity Girls were led by senior Kat Milby who medaled in 23:39 for 9th place overall. Sarah Tucker medaled as well in 18th place in a time of 25:02. Nealey Halter ran her way to a medal in 25:35. Taylor Steele was only 9 seconds off her season best time with a time of 27:04! Way to go girls!
Hello SRXC Runners and Families!
We race this weekend at the Spalding Jag Invitational in Griffin! This will be our 7th and next to the last meet before our 3 Championship meets at the end of the season. Runners, stay focused in your training so that you run your best and meet your goals for the 2012 season. You will notice that the first race this weekend is the middle school race instead of the varsity races so be prepared for races middle school runners by warming up early. Information on this weekend’s meet can be found under the “Meets” section to include driving directions. A course map is not available as of yet. VARSITY BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR FULL UNIFORM SATURDAY. We will take a team picture with your varsity warmup suit on so please be prepared for this. Academy runners please wear some sort of warm up suit as well as it will be cold Saturday morning. We are looking forward to the weekend, and great weather for cross country running this weekend! See you there!

Welcome back to school after your Fall Break! I hope you had a great week this past week and are eager to start preparing for our Championship Meets! Our first is the Henry County Championships which are 2 weeks away. This Saturday we travel to Griffin for the Spalding Jag Invitational which is always a good meet. Please look at the “Meet” drop down menu on the blog for more information. The meet calendar has been updated as well to show a change in the Region Meet so please look at this as well. Look for a post to the blog tomorrow for information about the Spalding meet.
Well, to recap last week we ran at the Battle of Atlanta at Nash Farm which is always a good meet for us. I found out the results on the internet at Milesplit as I was traveling, and out of the country all last week as some of you were as well.
