Hello SRXC Runners and Families!

Our God in Heaven truly blessed us with a great day on Saturday, the first Strong Rock Christian School XC Invitational! Runners, most of you ran personal records for your race distance, and if you did not most ran a season best time! Congratulations SRXC for running your best on Saturday! Thanks again gang for your hard work on the course so we could run and enjoy the first GHSA cross country meet at Strong Rock. In years to come, and as you return for alumni events I hope you will remember with pride, and thanksgiving to God with what He allowed you to be a part of here.

Parents and Volunteers thanks again for your willingness to be there and work to see that the meet was a success. God provided each of you a specific place of service that was vital to the meet. We received an email from a head coach – a part of which I would like to share:

“….. We are proud and honored to have been part of your very first cross country meet. The level of organization, the course, the facilities were all fantastic. However, what impressed me and my team the most was the friendly kindness that you and the numerous volunteers put forth……..”

Thank you SRXC for being “salt and light” to our community.

The following are the final results from our meet as well as some awesome photos and slideshows above and below – enjoy!

The victories are all HIS!

– Coach Dent

Hello SRXC Runners and Families!

This Saturday is a big day for our cross country program as we meet at home for the first Strong Rock Christian School XC Invitational.  It is our first home meet in 3 years since our move to GHSA.  The gun goes off at 8:00am with our first race!  Runners be there at 7:00am to start your warm up.  As you prepare for your home meet please take the time to look at the meet section the blog  provides, and read through the “Race Guide’.  We are looking forward to a great day so come prepared mentally as well as physically for this is YOUR meet!

We will take some team photos before the first race so varsity please wear your FULL uniform to include your warm up suit.  After the award ceremony at 10:45 am we will have team meeting, and for those who have met mileage thresholds – you will be welcomed into the “MIle Club”.

Thank you parents for your response to the needs to staff our home meet.  It would not happen with out you!  Volunteers please be there at 7:00am with those covering parking being there at 6:30am.  After the team meeting at 11:15 we will breakdown the course for storage, and clean up – we should be there no longer than 12:00 – 12:30 pm.

Now, with all the talk, planning, and work involved to prepare for this meet we have had 2 meets this past week.  The middle school ran at St George’s in Milner this past Thursday.  Check out this great picture of our Academy XC Teams!

Academy XC 07 SEP Saint George’s

Both Hayleigh Steadham and Graham Lewis came in 2nd Overall in their respective races, and the rest of the Academy Team did a great job in Milner that Day.  Way to go Patriots!

Our Varsity teams ran nearby at the Locust Grove Invitational this past Tuesday.

Let me tell you…   Our Varsity XC Girls Rock!  They are working hard and running hard as well. The girls took 1st Place Overall with a 3-1 meet record beating Luella, Locust Grove, and Forest Park.  They were led by second place overall finisher, Emma Welsh in a time of 22:38.  Girls, the first, FIRST PLACE – Way to go SRXC!

Finally,  after a very busy week of racing, and preparing for our own home meet ask God to bless our efforts on Saturday, pray that we might be “salt and light” to those that we see this weekend!  See you Saturday!

We look forward to a great meet on Saturday!

 Blessings,

We had a great time tonight at Olive Garden as we celebrated the completion of the Strong Rock Cross Country Trail! There was plenty of pasta, salad, and bread sticks to go around. See you at practice tomorrow as we prepare for Saturday’s meet.

YOU DID IT!

Hello SRXC Runners and Families!

This past Thursday and Friday our cross country team spent  many hours of “sweat equity” to finish our trail so that we can have a meet.  Team, because of your hard work, and dedication our first meet under GHSA rules at Strong Rock will be Saturday, September 15th – the Strong Rock Cross Country Invitational.

As you begin to run on your new trail this week – take the time to learn the curves, hills, and all that this trail has to offer.  This trail was built by you – you were the trailblazers – it is yours!

Parents, we are in need of volunteers for our up coming invitational meet on Saturday, September 15th at SRCS.  Join us to help as we need assistance to make our meet successful.  Please contact Rosemarie Milby, the chairperson for the cross country subgroup of the Patriot Athletic Club if you are able to help – she will steer you in the right direction!  Rosemarie can be reached at 770-294-7209 or rmnga308@aol.com.

Runners we meet next Thursday afternoon at 5:30 pm at Olive Garden on Jonesboro Road in McDonough.  This is your reward for your hard work on the trail and it is all you can eat pasta!  Come with a big appetite!

Everyone we meet today at 4:30 pm for the Luella Twilight Invitational.  It is exciting to get our season underway with our first meet.  See you there!

Coach Dent

Welcome to 2012 Strong Rock Cross Country!

Hello SRXC Runners and Families!

The 2012 cross country season is upon us. This year we have additional meets – for a total of eight regular season  meets and three championships. We are also planning a home meet this year on our new cross country trail. It is going to be an exciting year as Coach Mink and I have some great things in store for you.

Our re-designed cross country blog has a lot of cool new features to include your meet schedule, training calendar, running log, guiding principles, running physiology, meet information and directions, photos, and much more! Please explore all of the tabs and drop down menus to see all of the tools available on this blog.

Runners, please check your email account as you have received several emails from me this week. One of which asks you to log-in to running-log.com which is our new training log, and where you receive credit for the “Mile Club”. The new inductees into the “Mile Club” will receive their rewards weekly at each meet.

We would like to welcome Pat Stuart, CEO of Strong Rock, as he joins us during many runs on our new trails.

2012 XC Trail Workday

Finally, I would like to say thank you to all of those who met a couple of weeks ago at the school for our “Trail Workday”. It was hot, humid and there were plenty of chiggers to go around. A special thanks to the Dodd Family for helping to make this event a family outing. Thank you team for your dedication. The trails are almost there ….

Practice starts Monday with Coach Mink at 3:15 in her classroom. Come prepared – running starts Monday.

I will see you soon.  God bless you!
